Before We Begin: What These Cleaners Are Made Of

1UPcard cleaning cards and pads use a micro-abrasive non-woven polymer surface.
This material is fine enough to remove oxidation from metal contacts, but gentle enough not to remove the plating underneath.

The cleaning fluid included in many kits is 99% isopropyl alcohol.
This is the correct type for electronics because it:

• Evaporates quickly
• Leaves no residue
• Does not introduce moisture
• Does not soften adhesives

Lifespan of the Cleaning Pads

• Light use: ~150 cleanings
• Heavy restoration cleaning: ~50+ games

Pads can be rinsed with mild soap & water when visibly dirty, then air dried.

How to Use Any 1UP Cartridge Cleaning Card

1. Apply 1–2 drops of 99% alcohol to the cleaning pad (not the cartridge).
2. Insert the card into the cartridge slot or rub along the exposed contacts.
3. Slide straight and evenly, not aggressively.
4. Check the pad — dark streaking means oxidation was removed.
5. Let dry for 5–10 seconds (alcohol evaporates fast).
